Deathmatch, Google Vs Ebay
I was browsing Joel blog today when I noticed this very interesting post.
Joel says: “Google scheduled a party to promote its checkout service so that would compete with a conference organized by eBay, which owns Paypal. EBay wasn’t enthusiastic from this think…”..
As you know, Google opened in the USA with Google Checkout a transaction service similarly to Paypal. Google Checkout is at present free, contrary to Paypal, which require correctly fees.
The official response from eBay management about the block of its Google advertising campaign, has been the deactive of its complete USA AdWords advertisement after becoming known the action.
At this point, you are wondering what Google and eBay have in common? ebay is the biggest advertiser of Google, but ebay also depends from Google because it get from it the traffic for its site. However, in order not to meet to low cpc, I will check that eBay isn’t advertising on my ads unit. The shot went according to InfoWorld however to the rear loosely.
Has been a direct hit from part of Google that constitutes a large loss on the on-line advertising market.
