Strikes to me who WordPress going to updating more and more fast in this time. The latest Wordpress release are been completed and now the fans can go to download the WordPress 2.2.1 version.
WordPress 2.2.1 is a bug fix release for the 2.2 series. Some of the added features was been significantly enhanced with key advantages fixing some little bugs. The wordpress team has overcome the number of development obstacles.
The result is a nicely polished 2.2.1 release. The full list of bugs fixed in 2.2.1 is available here. Here are latest truths of wordpress 2.2.1, as I came to discover this morning. Just a quick refresher of its features:
- Atom feed validation fixes
- XML-RPC fixes
- Widget backward compatibility fixes
- Widget layout fixes for IE7
- Page and Text Widget improvements
Unfortunately, 2.2.1 is not just a bug fix release. Some security issues came to light during 2.2.1 development, making 2.2.1 a required upgrade. 2.2.1 addresses the following vulnerabilities:
- Remote shell injection in PHPMailer.
- Remote SQL injection in XML-RPC.
- Unescaped attribute in default theme.
To be honest, I haven’t tried it myself but I’ll do that soon to see if it’s worth the upgrade from my wordpress 2.2. However for anyone don’t known, John Chow in a recently blog post has said that have updated her wordpress 2.2. It had mod the codes to the version of Exee PHP.
“However, I had to go back to the original version of ExecPHP. I had mod the codes in order for ExecPHP to work with 2.2. Since 2.2.1 addressed that bug, my ExecPHP plugin didn’t work until I switch back to the original.”
The latest stable release of WordPress (Version 2.2.1) is now available in two formats zip or tar.gz. But rather than try to describe it here, I recommend you click the link here and go check it out for yourself.
