Many time we waited for the new ranking tool called “IZEARanks“. Ted Murphy, founder of the famous PPP, has created quite a buzz for itself in this year when has claimed who their IZEARanks could be better than pagerank of Google.
What Is RealRank?
Is a ranking system to calculate the blogs traffic and which are most infuence on the web. In little words, their aims is that to build another ‘ranking’ system for websites to give a realistic measure on how your site’s worth, similar to Google PR, ComScore etc, Alexa etc. Once you have installed the Izea Toolkit “ITK” (formerly PPP Tools), it send data for each visitor to the Tracker systems, and will help give an idea of the performance of your site.
How it works? Unlike other ranking systems, the RealRank scoring algorithm is public. The system weights blogs 70% on daily unique visitors, 20% by daily active inbound links and 10% by daily page views as reported by ITK. Participants can choose to expose just their RealRank score or expand reporting to include other data such as pageviews and visits.
My Personal Opinion
I think it’s not ever going to be a true ranking tool like Alexa. I found IZEA still far from ideal, because it tracks blogs who choose to put a script inside their blog. One of the great benefits of the other ranking tools is that you don’t need to opt in. The positive aspect of this system is that can bring accurate measurement of how your blog is going, but is also true who can’t see the majority bloggers on the net.
I already read that someone will not partecipate in this because they have expressed concern after the recently Google penalization and who RealRank might be a signal to Google that you’re selling links.
The formula is relatively simple.
- 70% weighted towards visitors per day
- 20% weighted towards amount of ACTIVE inbound links per day
- 10% weighted towards pageviews per day
What Do You Think?
In my view for now IZEA REALRank is just a promise. However, what looks like an attempt to fight back against the Google machine, I think this system don’t allow to compare your blog results with other. The algorithmic relies too much 70% on the daily unique visitors.
While daily uniques are the one thing that all advertisers are interested in, it’s also very easy to rig such a system. I think it’s easier to rig IZEARank than other ranking tools like Alexa. Because it heavily relies on daily uniques and it cannot determine if the unique visitors are coming from legitimate sites or from bots.
