But, if there one thing that lets things down with this system is that they only show up when there is a link to your blog from other blogs or sites. Not never happens who they show up if someone just mentions your blog’s name and does not link to it. If that is what you want to see, there a way to track those conversations as well, it’s through a simple tool called Google Alerts.
Google Alerts is really cool, and performs a unique function that is well outside the range of capabilities of current systems to keep track of discussion. What’s more, it’s got a fabulous interface for know who talk about you or your blog to help to improve its results
What are Google Alerts?
Google Alerts are email updates of the latest relevant Google results (Web, Blogs, Video, Group, News, Comprehensive.) based on your choice of query or topic. Just a quick refresher on the features:
- monitoring a developing news story
- keeping current on a competitor or industry
- getting the latest on a celebrity or event
- keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams
- Create an alert with the form on the right.
Compared to incoming links or trackbacks, Google alert making another work. Once you have choose your options you’ll be ready to check out your stats and track words that are linked to your blog.
For example: If you want know a websites who said about the word “the3dtechnologies” or if the word “the3dtechnologies” is linked to your blog or not, than Google Alert do this work for you.
Once you choose for the term you want to check and set the options to be notified “once a day”, “as it happens” and “once a week”, you can also choose to set between News, Blogs, Videos, Groups and the Web. I council you to set it to Comprehensive.
Once made it, Google Alert send this message on your mail box:
“Google Alert Created. Your Google Alert request [ the3technologies.com ] has been created and a verification email has been sent to servicestechnology@tiscali.it.”
My Opinion
This system is unique because allows to track all my projects or sites. I think it can really help you to improve your blog or products. If you are a blogger like me, then obviously it’s a good news for you. You can be sure to get a lot of information from the discussions about your blog.
It give an measure of the blog and a better idea of how a blog is going and on base on the discussions and suggestions you can improve and develop new features that meets the expectations of your users. It will also allow you to be closer to your customers, replying to them personally is another good thing you can do with the help of Google Alerts.
