Scheduled Backup Plugin – A Pratical Application To save Your Data

How much time you really have in a day? I hope for you. One thing I’ve learned in my work as bloggers is to save a little time to making a copy of every data I’ve archived. This data can be simply your work, your own PC files, your own blog’s database, etc. These additional copies are typically called “backups.”

You need to “backup” these data regularity. This is just for your own protection, folks. Ever wonder what may happen to websites when they comes hit by an hacker? You can risk to lose all your data.

An instance for all, recently RIAA Website has been cleaned by “Hackers”. It started out on the social news website Reddit, where a link to a really slow SQL query was posted. While the Reddit users were trying to kill the RIAA server, someone allegedly decided to up the ante and wipe the site’s entire database.

The recipes to keep your work protected from possible intrusion or crash, are various. Please take these as suggestions to keep your backup data always updated and far by unknown people.

  • Keep one or more copy of the backup. The second solution is adviced because can happen your CD is scratched or your hard disk crashed.
  • Keep more copies in different places. Many company have many websites placed on different server.

Is possible to make use of a vast range of web applications straight from the browser Windows to get a automated data backup of your own important documents. Fortunately, to simplify the process, a great many third-party solutions have developed some plug-in, allowing you to extend the capabilities of WordPress, or to interact with it in new and interesting ways.

WP-DB-Backup is one of these. It allows you easily to backup your core WordPress database tables. This backup assistant is one of the most useful plugins made for WordPress. This is the plugin that serves all my backup.

How Does To Install It

1: Copy the wp-db-backup.php file to /wp-content/plugins/

2: Activate the plugin at your blog’s Admin -> Plugins screen

3: The plugin will attempt to create a directory /wp-content/backup-*/ inside your WordPress directory.

4: You may need to make /wp-content writable (at least temporarily) for it to create this directory.

For example:
`$ cd /wordpress/`
`$ chgrp www-data wp-content` (where “`www-data`” is the group your FTP client uses)
`$ chmod g+w backup`

You can adjust plugin to make backup on any hours, but I think if you set it to make one or two posts a day daily backup will be sufficient.

Please note: For security reasons, WP-DB-Backup requires that you use WordPress version 2.0.3 or newer.
