17 Tools And Resources For Gmail

Gmail (or Google Mail as it is known in the UK) is one of the many services offered by Google. These are a comprehensive set of tools that should prove useful in Gmail. Below I’ve put 17 tools and resources.

Gmail Manager 0.5.4. Allows you to manage multiple Gmail accounts and receive new mail notifications. Displays your account details including unread messages, saved drafts, spam messages, labels with new mail, space used, and new mail…

GCount – 0.5.  Is a menu bar and/or Dock item that displays the unread status of the inbox of a recently popular email service.

GFeeder. Is a small ticker app which allows you to see what’s in your Gmail inbox at-a-glance. You can customize it to your liking.

Gmail Storage Drive. Is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google GMail account, allowing you to use GMail as a storage medium.

Gavamail. Gavamail is a POP3/IMAP server implemented in JAVA for reading your gmail e-mail with your favorite mail client. Currently only POP3 is implemented but I hope to implement IMAP too. Libraries provided by the g4j and libgmail projects are used.

Gotmailg. A Dashboard widget for Mac OS X 10.4 (and now 10.5) that displays the number of unread email messages in a GMail account. It has a simple and easy to use interface. Now supports different colored backgrounds.

GDisk. Is a software that turns your GMail account into a portable hard drive so you can always have your important files accessible accross the Internet.

Better Gmail 1.1.2. A comprehensive suite of Gmail enhancements, including skins, saved searches, keyboard macros, secure access, attachment icons, attachment reminders, label colors, signature floating and more.

GMail Drive. Is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Mail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium.

Delegate to Remember The Milk 1.0.1. This extension adds a new button on Gmail messages that generates an email to Remember the Milk that creates a new task (whew!). This is a great way to quickly turn emails into tasks, while at the same time retaining a link back to the original email.

GCalQuickTab 0.3.3. If you have both Gmail and Google Calendar, GCalQuickTab makes it easy to switch between the two webapps in your browser by overriding the default behavior of the new Gmail/Google Calendar links that appear in the upper-left-hand corner of those…

Dragdropupload 1.6.2. Drop files into attachment boxes instead of browse for them or type in the filename. Drop multiple files and fill all the entries. In some websites it allows to add new upload files: in Gmail is possible to drop the files directly over the…

GMail Checker 1.1.3. I like how this extension uses existing cookies, so you don’t have to give your user name and password. I’m a bit paranoid about giving that kind of confidential info to a program, so it’s a really nice feature that should have been included in other add-ons of this kind.

Gmail Notifier 0.6.3.2. Allows you to monitor multiple Gmail accounts right inside your browser’s UI.

Gmail RTL 0.1.1. The extension adds the direction buttons, that are currently available only in the Hebrew & Arabic Gmail interfaces. Direction buttons allows you to write in Right-To-Left and Left-To-Right manners.

Gmail Lader. For Windows or Linux, aids you in loading your email to your Gmail account.

Gmail S/MIME 0.3.1. With the Gmail S/MIME extension, you can send and receive signed and encrypted S/MIME messages in Gmail. Secure your e-mail today, including your attachments! Version 0.3.1 inter-operates with every S/MIME-capable mail client including Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail.app.
