A trackBacks is a methods to request notification. For instance, a blogger B has written something interesting and that attracts. A blogger A has read what blogger B has written and want to send a TrackBack ping to him.
If blogger B receive many trackback, it can see all sites that have notified a particular post listed on his site.
So, when readers go on site B, they can read the site A and all related post that have reference on site B.
TrackBack was first created by Ben and Meana Trott after was launched Movable type and was been integrated into the features of most popular blog platforms as WordPress and Typepad.
TrackBacks is similar to pingback technology which provides security of checking to see if the pinging site actually exists.

But can we be one hundred percent certain, that trackback are not used for other purpose? Unfortunately like any thing this system don’t prevent that automated trackBacks pingbots lets anyone send spam messages. In fact, trackback are used by many websites to send messages about mortgages online, online poker and viagra.
How To activate Trackback By default In Movable Type.
Go to your blog Config > Preferences > Publicity/Remote Interfaces/TrackBack
Check the checkbox “Allow TrackBack Pings”
How To activate Trackback By default In TypePad.
Go to your blogs>configure>preference>comment and trackback preferences:
Check the checkbox “hold comments and trackbacks for aproval” and set default trackback status set to “new posts accept trackbacks(for receiving trackbacks).
How To Activate Trackback By Default In WordPress:
Go to your blogs>setting> discussion
Check the checkbox “Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.) “(for sending trackbacks)
Check the check box “Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)” (for receiving trackbacks).
