How To Increase Your Blog Rate
I heard a lot of stories from some people that are not satisfied with the FeedBurner Stats because the number of their subscribers don’t increases.
What Does It Mean to Subscribe?
Here some of definitions of “subscribe” from encarta.msn.com dictionary.
1) Advance payment for something: an agreement to pay for and receive or use something over a fixed period of time, e.g. a periodical, series of books, or set of tickets to musical or dramatic performances.
2) The process of signing a legal document as an indication of approval of its terms, or an approving signature on a document ( formal ).
3) Membership fee:a fee paid for membership in a club or society.
Without our daily traffic, our search engine rankings, our paid advertising, with only our RSS feed we could survive for years without any additional traffic.
According to this definition, when you asking someone to writing their name and email on the subscription form you are asking them to agree to pay a bit of money or a fees for membership in a service. Then, make sure to indicate if your subscription form is free or not.
Also, every bloggers think that asking their readers to “subscribe” is the just way to convince them to take this action.
Can not stress how bad of an idea this is, or mistake blogger do when using a single word to convince readers to take this action. Doesn’t help that bloggers using the only word”subscribe” to persuade their reader.
Vast majority of my sites visitors are not familiar with RSS. I’ve found that a great percentage of readers subscribe via email. 60% of my subscribers get my daily posts through e-mail. Here as I made to test it.
Many bloggers making use of a great button to ensuring that their readers can see where they subscribe. Most part of them write both the text “subscribe by e-mail” and “subscribe by RSS”.
Recently, I’ve try to changed the text to “Get jobs by e-mail” and “Get jobs by RSS“.
My subscription rate has increased 80% since I made the change and 60% of the new subscribers are e-mail. Being the number of my visitors costantly, I demonstrated that people who choose “subscribe” are the same people who will choose e-mail over RSS.
