The most part of us has took this decision at least once in his or her lives. Is better a local bank or a larger one?
Well, the problems going on now in the banking industry in a lot of ways are scary. Thus, I’ve been doing a bit of research about the economic crisis, especially I had some thoughts a lot about banking locally. I was wondering if local banks has had a similar effect the big bank.
Here, I’ve summarized my results:
In my view, small local banks satisfy needs of people for the quality banking products and services. On the other hand, makes it easier if you need them to any type of services, because generally they be closer to home. Also, give anyone interested a personalized service and good financial products, too.
Local bank will help you with tricky stuff like reversing bank charges, eliminating fees, examining lost checks, etc.
Another important thing small banks ensure to their customers is the security of their funds. Small banks may pay lower interest rates on saving accounts when compared to larger banks. But, smaller banks do have less ATM’s available for you, making financially more risky.
Conclusion
Instead, big Banks spend tons of money because they have too. Large banks are throwing money away. Any large bank that decides to convert to a new core system could bring that bank to its knees. If you think about sub-prime mortgages, the investment banking woes were the killers for the most of the big banks.
