First to start with my last blog, I’ve made a bunch of initial research, I’ve built a smaller list of keywords I can compete on, and built my new blog around these keywords. I built this list of keywords in different keywords clusters, so I know just how much content I need on that topics.
This rule worth for any site niche you create. If you want start a niche site, you just can’t start with the content without to choose target keywords, first. Content research is a crucial process you need to consider before you start your site, because decides exactly what you need to write.
This is where I slipped up when I first started with my first site, the3dtechnologies, thus I did not want to make that same mistake with my last blog. Thus, I reccomend you, before to register any domains, you need to check the keywords into clusters, because if you can’t find enough content then it’s a waste of time for you and building the site.
Of course, this is not only do before start a blog, but the same process worth before each blog post you write. It might be easier to give you an example of my new project:
For instance, recently I launched my new blog about cabin rental called”cabinrentalsideas.com”. To check how many article I can write, I spent a bit of time reading blogs in the same niche and forum. Once, I have found as many information as possible, I was able to calculate exactly how many article I can write.
Usually, when people looking for new ideas for their content, they take inspiration from directories like Ezinearticles, and then simple re-write those articles for his sites. I have nothing with this type of approach, sure, this approach saves a lot of time, but I think you’ll find a lot of similar contents in this way. Instead, I like spend a few hours find niche that I don’t know much about and get high quality content that is interesting and is useful for my reader.
Usually I use these methods to find ideas for my contents:
- 1. Keyword – I use WordTracker’s free keyword tool to find ideas for my niches.
- 2. Forums – Once you go to google, I type “keyword forum”.
- 3. Google – Of course, the most common place where to find contents is Google. Pick a prominent keyword in your niche and you’ll get all results of sites already ranking at the top.
- 4. Blog – I usually use blog Technoraty to see what’s new.
- 5. Article directoy - There are article directories out there, I usually find content at Ezinearticle and Go article.
