After I’m getting out of debt and I’ve built an emergency fund, I’ve decided that I need to set a budget. One of my financial goals for this year and one thing I want is to set  a budget travel.

I like travel, but if you ask me what I’d like to do more of, I’ll say “travel without spending a lot of money”. One of my favorite blogs right now is iwillteachyoutoberich. Just a couple of days I was reading an excellent article write by the professional world traveller Nora Dunn, is titled “Travel full-time for less than $14,000 per year“, and yes! I wanted to book a flight to Australia — today!

It’s a detailed post with her tips on traveling affordably. Dunn has included 11 useful tips divided into eleven sections.

Below, I’ve summarized some his secrets to travel for less than $14,000 per year.

Tip1: Save 80% on Airfare – Whether you are looking for a cheap fly, Dunn’s recommend to find other airlines that fly to the same route. Some badget airlines are not indexed by the larger search engines, thus you need to do a more complete internet searches to find some deals should  significantly reduce the  cost.

Tip2: Work for accomodation -  Many countries allow volunteer work in exchange for room and board. Here, Dunn has listed six useful resources that will allow you to find the work-trade arrangement that is perfect for you: Caretaker’s Gazette, House Carers, Organic Volunteers, WWOOFing, Help Exchange, Work Away.

Tip3: Get free accomodation - Instead of staying in an expensive hotel room, hospitality exchanges is the better way to be guest in somebody’s home free of charge. Dunn has put four resources online for you to find the right hospitality exchange: Couch Surfing, Hospitality Club, Global Freeloaders, Servas.

Tip4: Work while traveling – May seem like a daunting task, but there are several sites that make over $3000/month and attest it is quite possible be a freelancing on the web and make a living online while you travel.

Tip5: Learn the Truth About Volunteering - Depending on the organization, you could spend more money for the privilege of volunteering. But don’t lose hope , there are a number of ways to volunteer for free if you have time to do some research.
