A question I hear too often by many people completely new to internet marketing is how do they getting better rankings in Google. First and foremost, as we all know, the pagerank is not the only means, that many people think it is to valuate the quality of websites. What we see in the Google Toolbar(the little green pixels displayed in the toolbar) is not the real value anyway.
If you’re done a good job of building your websites link popularity, and pulling your readers onto your website, then you’ve only won half the battle. If we look at the most successful bloggers out there, you’ll find a common trait, they are authority in a particular industry and people on the blogs and social web have trust on them.

Althought it may seem intuitive, trust and authority are two measures many people not consider, but is a very important part if you want be sure your site earns the trust from Google.
Now the question is, what do “Authority” and “trust” means in internet, and how do you get more consideration by Google?
Be an “authority” on a specific topic means that people trust you to receive useful information, but also are most likely trusted by Google. There are a lot of sites are considered as authority websites by Google in an particularly industry, and are well ranked by it.
If there’s one factor that can influence your Google authority, it’s certainly the domain(for instance, authority domains are Apple, or W3C). Google check-up older domains, so my advice is to register your domain for 10 years. if you do not have a domain yet, I reccomend Bluehost.
Big sites have so much trust and are ranked well in the top Google results(for instance Amazon, Ebay) that no need to build links back to their pages. Instead, if we consider small business, in my view, content strategy is the only sustainable way to try to achieve authority at least in their niche.
What Is The TrustRank?
Trustrank is a modified Pagerank algorithm, is a factor that determine who is linking to you. It seems that Google has a list of web sites are the most ‘trusted’. In this article Mr. Cutts explain how does Google determine which web sites are the most “trusted”.
Google uses more than 100 different factors, including the PageRank algorithm, to determine whether a site is trusted or reputable. If you think of the internet as a democracy, a web page that links to another page is “voting” for the value of the page. As we explain in our Technology Overview, PageRank interprets a link from Page A to Page B as a vote for Page B by Page A. PageRank then assesses a page’s importance by the number of votes it receives. But that’s not the end of the story. If Page A itself has more votes from other pages, the vote carries more weight. Or to put it another way, if more people trust your site, your trust is more valuable.
Negative Trust Rank
What happens if your link are positive or negative:
“I always think that links have a positive or negative value. Let’s say the BBC gives you a +10,000 and a spammy blogspot link gives you a -100, you still have a positive 9,900 score. The problems occur when the BBC get hit with a link selling penalty, if your backlinks have fallen into negative equity things go south quickly.
Get caught selling links and your link value could shift from a positive value to a negative value, so I re-visit my clients links monthly and check out what’s happening to the sites that link to them” – David Naylor, www.Bronco.co.uk
Directories
Some directories are trusted well by Google such as Dmoz, others are not.
Traffic
Of course, Google know what is going on your site and not, how many people visiting your site, If is your traffic growing go from zero to thousands natural, and so on. Google could use several ways to track your movements, such as: click-throughs from Adsense or search results, FeedBurner, Google anlythics and toolbar.
