This year, I’ve received many question about how build a blog from scratch and how to grab traffic to 300000 visitors per month without spending any money on using tricks or techniques. I admit that, I do use of other system to attract visitor like social media or content direct, but my main strategy is to providing genuine and value content to my readers.
Thus, the following 4 suggestions are primarily about building traffic and through it, attention:
1. Create Valuable Content
Remember, that your purpose is to write content that must be read by millions of people. Then, it’s important provide genuine value to others if you don’t want that they leave your site. When I think what write, I sometimes imagine myself in front an audience of a million people. Then I ask myself “what I can say to my readers to grab their attention”?
If each reader stay on my site for about 4 minutes, I imagine the effect on people I get, so I try to do a strong article with value and unique content in order to persuade them to do not leave my site.
2. Write For Human Beings First
When I find something meaningful to say, my typical blog post is about 500 words, but I hope to write 1000 words for each of them, soon. My traffic for majority comes from Google, however I’ve receive links on thousands of other web sites, as well, and I’ve also done very well with social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, digg.com.
My purpose for future is to increase the number of quality inbound links, becuase because it leaves me less vulnerable to shifts in technology.
3. Create Unique Content
Providing unique content is my favorite long-term strategy. Sure, it takes more effort, but I want this site to be a final destination not a middleman. I want this site to be a place where people find a complete and exhaustive answer to their problems.
There are alot of unique content on this site, the site has alot to choose from, so when people arrive here, they often stick around for a while, before to find what they want to read.
4. Don’t Write About Time-Bound Events
Usually, I tend to ignore current events in my writing. I prefer write content to be timeless. I intend that the article I write today, must be real value in the next months or years. Sure, I believe that news are important, and news will even be remembered next month or year, but has not the same value, because can not be re-utilized.
