An important question for bloggers is “How do you getting credibility if you don’t have any or not much of it?

Building credibility is hard, especially for who start a blog. Here, I’ve put some tips on how to build credibility as  blogger. First of all, we need to say that a teory that is going for more is that of Graham Jones who writes about the credibility pyramid.

The pyramid is composed by four main elements.

  • Knowledge (10%)
  • Focus(15%)
  • Enthusiasm(25%)
  • Care and concern(50%)

1. Knowledge (10%) – According to Mr Jones, the first level and the foundations of pyramid is the knowledge. Sure, this has an allocation of 10% which is fairly low, but is the base. If you don’t have knowledge and you don’t know what you are talking about, you have no credibility no matter what else you might write or which are your subject.

2. Focus(15%) – The second level is the 15% of the total score. Those people do not deviate in their opinions. Those people seem to have on mind only their approach, opinions, and knowledge.

There is not need to give to other people a lot of details and information in order to be considered credible. Is the consistency of the information the main factor that allows people to assess the credibility factor.

In some cases it is even possible that providing far too much information that can undermine the credibility score. You have to only provide the most important points.

3. Enthusiasm(25%) – The next level is enthusiasm. It’s the 25% of a credibility score. An enthusiastic people is considered more credible than those who are not.

4. Care and concern(50%) – The top of pyramid is associated at the care of your audience. If you demonstrate that you care about your audience you will be able to be credible to your audience.

No matter what your business is, sell a product or services, to build your online credibility you need to show a huge amount  concern for your readers.

Here, I’ve put my  personal advices on how to get credibility:

Help people – Provides something that help people in their work. Give them useful advice that can simplify their life.

I think it depends on the type of the blog. Blog that provides download-able free software will need more SEO than care and concern, for example.
