What Is A Blog?
There are different opinion about the term “blog”, but in general, a blog is a log where people share their own ideas, throught, or the latest news, photos, and videos.
According to Wikipedia:
A blog (a contraction of the term “web log“) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Here, a blog in brief:
1. Just as a newspaper, a blog have a subject or header, and each new article will be showed at the top of the page.

Why Blogging And Not Just Tweet?
When Twitter was launched, I wondered which are the mainly difference between that service and a blog platform. Here, I’ve put my answers:
- Of course, Twitter is more easy to use than a blog, but if there’s one thing that make a blog more useful is the ability to share more concept or ideas in one post. If on one hand 140 characters is often more than necessary, on the other hand, often it doesn’t allows you to deepen your ideas. Here’s where blog comes into play.
- Often old article have infinite life and are read years later. After Twitter are put in archive purgatory where never will find it more.
- Blog allows you to track every post you launch.
- Through plugins you can integrate your Twitter profile into your blog.
- Blogs are the fast way to provides tips, receive feedback, give your readers an opportunity to know your works, businsss, and so on.
What Is A Blogging Platform And Which Are The Better “Hosted Blog”?
A blogging platform is a software developed with the only purpose to help you create, edit and publish your content online. Some are free, others require a monthly or yearly subscription fee.
The most used hosted blogging platform, today are Blogger.com and WordPress.com, however there are other know services like Typepad that are also hosted blogs, but not free.
Through a hosted blog you no need to have PHP or HTML knowledge, because the set up is very easy and no require additional effort.
While hosted solution like Blogger.com lets you run a website with an domain like this “www.miosito.blogspot.com”, Wordpress allows you to have a professional URL like “www.miosito.com”
Despite Blogger.com provides you a second level domain, I think that could be useful to test your first blog. Once tested, then you can switch to WordPress open source platform. Read this article to learning how to migrate your blog from Blogger to WordPress.
In general, both have a lot of options and allows you to add several “themes”, as to add ” plugins”, which add extra functionality to your blog.

Desktop Blog Editors. Why Would You Use A Blog Desktop Editor?
Here’s why I use a desktop blog editor to write and launch my blog post: the reasons I put here can be apply for the most different blog desktop editors.
Manage Multiple Blogs from one point – Many desktop blog editors lets you edit them without having to log into each of the blog. Don’t worry if you have TypePad, WordPress and Movable Type blogs you can work only from one spot. This speeds up your work.
Offline Blogging – One of reasons why I like use editors like QUMANA is because I can work offline. So, when I hit a WiFi area I can simply publish my posts.
Backed Up Content – Another reason I like to use a desktop editor is that I have always a copy of my posts on my desktop. Some editors like ecto has a ’search’ feature that will scan old posts if you are research a particular phrase.
