Recently, I wanted trying to figure out how does to use Facebook to improve my blog. In particular, I’m tried to focus on how to:

  1. Increasing traffic to my blog.
  2. Build high target traffic.
  3. Improve my brand and establish myself as an authority.

Of course, if you do not have one of these three things will become very hard to have success as blogger. These three point are all important aspects you need to develop if you want to becoming a successful blogger.

Facebook Worth It?

First and foremost, is very important to figure because Facebook should be the right choice and why we need to pay attention.

Having read a great deal of other articles on internet, I can summarize Facebook through these data:

  1. Facebook have over 300 million active users around the world.
  2. Average time spent on Facebook is 20 minutes a day against 1.00 minute spent on any website.

So, how us bloggers can take advantage from it? In this little guide I will show you how to benefit from this great site. I can attest that just one month, Facebook drived an huge amount of traffic to my blog the3dtechnologies. Watch the image below.

As you can see the most interesting part of this data includes a lowest bounce rate (52.32%), but in particular the most average time spent on the site (04:05).

Facebook Group vs Facebook Fan Page: What’s Better?

You can engage with people on Facebook is three ways:

  • Create your Personal Profile
  • Create a  Group
  • Create a Fan Page

When you create your primary account with Facebook the first thin you create is your personal profile. Here, you can engage with your friends, write wall post, send email, receive comment, and so on.

The3dtechnologies Fan Page There are something to keep in mind when you create your Facebook fan page. Remember that you can not change the name of your page once you’ve created it.

So, put some throught into the name of your page before to choose it. Also, keep in mind that your Facebook page could be ranked at the top Google position as well.

Unfortunatly, that was a mistake I’ve made when I’ve choosed the name of my page. Instead of choose “the3dtechnologies” as fan page name, I could pick for example “build a business online” could be quite good.

As many sites, Facebook let you to create your own landing page. This is an important part if you want to convert new visitors into fan. Usually, when people come to your fan page will be taken straight to your wall, which is ugly and doesn’t really tell people exactly what to do. Facebook let you create a welcome Page or landing page, that only new visitors will see first.

You can add whatever you want on this page. It is a blank html page (about 760 px wide), so If you have a  subscription form you can easily throw that in there too.

Below I’ve put the exact step to create a landing page on Facebook, and make sure that new visitors will see first:

  1. Add Facebook App Static FBML. Click here
  2. Click “Add to my page” button.
  3. Back on your fan page and on the left sidebar(below your logo) click on “Edit page”
  4. On the “static FBML” option click on “edit”
  5. Now, you will see a box for your title and a main content area.(Note: Don’t enter enything yet, it seem like there be a bug when creating the first page).
  6. So, Click on “Add another FBML box” at bottom.
  7. The new page called “FBML1″ will be added to list at bottom of page.
  8. Click “edit” against it.
  9. Now, enter the title for your page, and your html for main content. Save it.
  10. Now add your page to a tab. Go back to the step 4 and on FBML choose “Application setting”, than click “Add” against tab.
  11. Go back to the main page and add the tab “welcome” That it!
  12. Now, if you want that only new visitors will see first, go back to the step 4 and choose “Wall Settings” and choose “Default Landing Tab” as “welcome”

Guide To Using Facebook: Trick To Increase Facebook Fans

If you want to know how to engage people on your facebook fan page, go to your fan page and click the “Suggest to friends” link. Normally, you would have to manually select everyone on your list. If you enter the following line of code into your browser’s URL field you are able to automatically select all your friends.

The Fan Box - The Fan Box is a widget that allows Facebook Page owners to shows either pictures of your fans fan, and latest updates from their own website. The Fan Box lets users:

  • See how many users are already fans, and see some of their friends who are
  • Read recent posts from the Page
  • Become a fan with 1-click without needing to visit the Page

    You have written some interesting tips. The best one is creating customized Welcome page, as most of the bloggers don’t know about this.

    “make sure to update your status every day.”.. this may sound very basic but is very important tip. Interacting with your fans is very important, but bloggers generally update status with their latest post only.

    I am going to follow these tips for the fan page of my blog soon.
