The first thing you need to do is set the access for your customers by setting up a custom user registration message, whether users can download attachments without logging in, email whitelists and blacklists, and if users can use OpenID to access their account.

In the next step you can personalize ZenDesk by changing colors, uploading a favicon for bookmark branding, uploading logos, and so on.

After that you can change the html email setup, set up your default reply email, and enable SSL.

Next you are able to set up your users and their rights, setting permissions and roles for your help desk participants. Now you’re ready to start submitting tickets. You can also change any of these settings later, under the Manage tab.

Once fill the name and contact information you can set an agent to be assigned to the ticket, then set the, Priority (Low, Normal, High, Urgent), Type (Question, Incident, Problem, Task), Status (New, Open, Pending, Solved).

To help evaluate the overall priority, Zendesk will assign a ticket score of 1 to 100 based on the Type, Priority, age, and Assignee.

If you want to see what the open tickets are, there are two tabs, Recent and Views. You can see them in table, list, or by tags, and export them as csv or RSS. Various views to see tickets by unassigned, working, and updated tickets are also under this tab.

Customers can access their tickets by logging in and seeing responses or see a knowledge base or FAQ.

Also, if you want to track your tickets, ZenDesk also provides a monitor system which includes a number of high priority tickets, visual charts, ticket priorities, resolution time, and incident evolution.
