Infographic: The Language Of Advertising And Terms Used In Advertising

What are the language used in advertising and what is the anatomy of a slogan?

A study conducted by the company Linguarama in collaboration with the University of Mississippi, estimates that an average individual is exposed to messages from 3,000 to10,000 brands within a day.

Through the use of words, brands communicate with their audience with emotional messages, evocative phrases and attractive slogans, with the intention of triggering through this type of input the purchase of a particular good or service.

The infographic titled ‘Wordplay’ collects the most common adjectives and words in the world of advertising on and off-line and shows through 6 simple rules to generate the perfect slogan in the world of advertising.

How Multitasking Effect On Human Brain

Have you ever wonder how our brain react to multitasking?

According to researchers,  the region involved in multitasking is at the front of brain. It’s called the anterior prefrontal cortex(APC).

Unfortunatly, they did not have sufficient evidence to explain how the MFC(Medial prefrontal cortex) was involved.

Last year Koechlin’s team have conducted a series of experiments by using functional magnetic resonance in order to demonstrating as brain works in reaction to various situations.

The experiment involved 32 persons who were asked to match letters while their brain activity was recorded with (fMRI functional magnetic resonance imaging).

The task of any subject was to determine whether the letters (Each one of subjects were given a set of uppercase letters) were matched in the correct order in order to spell out a certain word.

Subject were awarded with money. As result of experiment, they found that there was more activity in the MFC(Medial prefrontal cortex) when was higher the monetary reward, which proves the greed lies in Brain.

During the experiment, the MFC divided up the labor.

One hemisphere of the brain encoded the reward associated with the uppercase letter task, and so showed activity during that task, while the other region encoded the reward associated with the lowercase task, Koechlin said.

The results explained why it’s harder for human brain to make choices between three objects as compare to two.

I just found a  cool infographic created by Column Five Media which show as multitasking effect on Brain.

Infographic – The Timeline Of Advertising

Today I want to highlight a cool infographic on the history of advertising.

Created by Infolinks team, it show all methods of advertising on the worldwide web, from the  ancient Egypt to today.

The most important and interesting events are documented. Some interesting facts from the infographic include:

  • The firt electric sign is lit in New York Time Square.
  • Pay-per-click keyword advertising debuts at GoTo.com(now a part of Yahoo!). It is widely mocked.
  • The first official TV commercial runs for Bulova Watch; The company pays $9 for a 20-second spot aired before a baseball game.

The evolution of advertising has experienced milestones such as the printing press and television which impacted advertising format immensely.

However, the internet has revolutionized advertising perhaps the most, and of course Infolinks believe that In-Text advertising is the next generation of advertising.
