I got an email from Joel today asking me to check out a new thing called “The Social Millionaire”. The name reminds me “Million Dollar Wiky” I’ve mentioned some time ago. Appearances aside, it works in a different way.

The Social Millionaire is a website created by a young entrepreneur named Pat Hankinson. He is just 19 years old, but as he says has already an experience with several websites some of which have been failures and some successful.

The website connects consumers from all the major social networks to advertisers who want to reach this audience by keywords. The aims is to collect one million dollars from social networks that will then be used to build of few internet companies.

How Does It Work

Advertisers can consider purchasing a keyword with a minimum of $1. It’s her only significant source of revenue so far. Well, it seems like others similar services out there. Where is the novelty?

Well, what makes Social Millionaire more interesting than other similar services is that multiple people can buy the same keyword on the Social Millionaire. So, people will be higher in the list whether will pay the higher amount.

How Does To Start

The site has een designed for easy navigation and gets no special negative criticism from me. Once in the home page, click on the link near the top of the page. From a single transaction, you can buy up to ten keywords. Also, you are able to buy keyword phrases, seemingly ten of unlimited length. The entire process of buying keywords, from beginning to end, took less than five minutes.

Conclusion

Pat plans on doing this for the life of the site which he plans to keep live until March 2013 “at minimum”. The blog will also be continually updated during this time.

If I’m a blogger, why I should purchase a keyword? Visibility. Getting visibility is often the most important goal for web publishers. The Social Millionaire can be advantageous for the lesser known websites and blogs. The point is that, considering that the widget shows that he still has  $1,822.92 seems disappointing.
