Is The Golden Age Of Tech Blogging Over?

We are at a crossroads, who is taking us from golden age of blogging to the post-blogging era.

Among the various things that we will see changing in 2012, one is certainly blogging. This does not mean that blogs are dead,  but more generally, is web publishing that is changing. It is the nature of the blog.

Some have already figured out. For instance, according to Jeremiah Owyang, the blog of the future will have these characteristics:

  1. An opportunity for new stars to emerge.
  2. Yet, the rise of personal brands will be harder.
  3. New models to emerge, long form content not the only way, and finally.
  4. A new mix of media will emerge.

Let’s dig even deeper to identify where we should expect to see innovation from.

Blog Today And Tomorrow

Blogs are usually the work of a single individual, often with only one viewpoint for each blog. But today the blog – at least those of a certain level – have a lot of collaborators, sometimes with very different views on individual issues.

The time to build the blog around a celebrity is over: look, for example, what happened when Engadget’s Topolsky and Patel left site last March. It’s true that traffic dropped down by a massive 10 per cent, but they’ve recovered it very fast.

Short or Longh Content?

People are always in a hurry today, and do not have time to read long post, so an 600-1000 words article might be considered too annoying(even if it’s good). Same goes for the video: 3-4 minutes is the maximum time we can devote to them.

Feed Are Changing

CNN:Tech, has placed 6 different feeds in the queue of its pages on technology blogs category. Certainly one of the main beneficiaries of the change was Mashable that now sees its contents on ABC News,CNN, Forbes, Metro, USA Today and Yahoo News. Expect to see similar things in the future.

Finally, there’s LinkedIn and Facebook with its feed and its many social media tools that allow you to personalize the news in different way.

Others

The last but not least, mobile and custom publishing. The first one, increased enormously in the last year, and this represents a challenge for content creators. The second one, pubblisher creates a series of white papers on request of the sponsors, which can become an excellent sources of revenue.

Conclusion

Bloggers and online publishers will be forced to permanently leave the clichés of the “text + photos posted on a web page” and experiencing new things. Personally, I bet on the “mobile + social + video”, and you?

The Newbie Guide To Blogging, 5 Ingredients You Really Need To Know To Start A Business Online With Your Blog

There comes a time in every publisher life when the throught is to start make money online. I often receive this email message: What do you do for a living? And when I answer that I’m a full time blogger, they ask me what do to start make money blogging.

Well, it is clear that this question has need to have more than one answer.

Everyone has to constantly educate themselves to create a business online. If you want to make money online, you have to prepare to change your mentality and move beyond the standard thinking.

My overall recommendation is to don’t go for any niche to monetize. I always mentioned in my blog posts about how important it is to select a good niche or mass market topic for your blog. Often this factor could determine whether a blog is going to make money or not.

1. Stay Away From Your Competitors Marketing

If you choose the wrong niche it may do you lose your time, effort and better yet your money. Make the right choice for your topic is the best way to start better. For instance, If you create a blog about notebook, it will involve all the categories of notebook that are present in the market today.

Of course it is a large market, and as you could think you get a very general audience. While this may seem as a very good market, of having such a big audience visiting your blog, it is an extremely hard to convert all this general traffic into buyers. Visitors may simply visit other technology bloggers like you, and you lose money as well.

Alternatively, if you start a blog about the Acer Aspire TimelineX, then you will be targeting a much narrower audience. That is, all the people will only be interested in things concerning the Acer Aspire TimelineX, it’s features, it’s applications, etc.

2. Have I Need Of A Blog To Start A Business Online?

In my 4 year of experience like blogger I can attest that have a blog is become crucial today to start a business online. It can help you find new customers and convert it into buyers as bring a brand as well. I reccomend you to download my ebook “How to make money online”(link above) that explain you any step by step process to start a blog from scratch.

While Adsense, and direct advertising are one of my better ways to generate a strong revenue stream, I can say that affiliate marketing and especially email marketing also play an important role on my monthly income stream.

3. The Essential Rule For Creating A Strong Brand

4. Building a strong website is only the first step, you have need that your visitors know who you are and what were your successes. In a nutshell, they need trust you.

If you only promoting crap products most probably once bought them, your visitors doesn’t come back to your site more. You can sell 10-20 or more crap products, but you sell only one time.

I tell you how I built my brand: First and foremost Create your ‘Story page’ or about me page, so people who visit your website, visit your Story page and know more about you, who you are, and what is your authority in your niche.

Of course, great content, also really help people and make sure before they leave your website that you are an expert in your niche and you have more chance that they come back.

5. A Cool Tactic To Build Relationships

When I started the3dtechnologies.com, I didn’t knew much about relationship. What I mean is that I have not a connection with authority blogger out there.

One thing I always reccomend if you want to gain authority is to contact some of gurus that have had successful in your same niche and try to interview them. Sharing this kind of content is by far the strongest and best content, because doesn’t requires a lot of effort, and you get lot’s of traffic as well. It will help you speed your chances of becoming a top blogger.

4 Lesson I’ve Learned In These 4 Year Of Blogging

Whether you’re just starting out in the online blogging world or you’re a veteran, no matter what your business is you need to learn certain things.

Below, I’ve listed 4 important things that you need to concentrate if you were starting on blogging today.

1. Content – Blog’s isn’t not a blog really without some kind of content whether that be video or text or audio or image. Success depends upon what you put up on to it. Of course, that requires bit of effort in many ways. You need to focusing upon content.

Make sure do you know that your content is useful. Your content must match both experts and beginners and must relate to something your audience cares about or won’t get much use out of advanced discussions.

2. Community –  The second thing I’d focused on is the community. I admit that it was something I didn’t really focused on much for the first few years on my own blogging journey.

Forums and chat, and the rise of Facebook and Twitter are things that people use because they feel like they’re being noticed. Helping people who come across your blog to feel like they’re being noticed is the first thing to do. People don’t go online just to consume content any more.

3. Connection - To keep the people connecting to you, really it’s about capturing people’s email addresses, and creating a place where you can continue to have that connection with them, it’s about getting them to subscribe to your blog in some way, it’s about connecting with them on Twitter or Facebook, wherever it might be that’s relevant for your niche.

4 – Money – The fourth thing I’d say is money. Of course this isn’t a goal for every blogger but for me that I’ve decided to monetising my blog is important, and however I think the most of blogger wish to pay at least the cost of the hosting as their wordpress theme as well.

Conclusion

So, here  are my four recipe of blogging, content, community, connection, money. They’re the most important, I think, these are the most important lessons that I’ve learned.

Having A Niche Blog Or Not, How To Make A Decision

When you start blogging you’ve need to think and take a crucial decision about your niche. You can focus exclusively on one topic or cover several related subjects with the purpose to capture a larger share of visitors. After you’ve decided, then you can think how to profit from your new blog.

In brief, your decision depends by the amount of information about the subject you choose, as the amount of time you want to devote to it.

Here I put a few tip to help make your decision easier.

Before write high quality articles in your niche, you need not only have an interest in the subject, or just skim the surface on a topic, but you must provides detailed information without be afraid to go deep. Many of your competitors don’t goes too deep. In my view, uncover a little more on a subject and share it with your readers allow you to building trust with your target audience.

Once you thought about a possible titles and topics, the first thing to understand is if you have enough to say about the subject you actually consider, or after the first few months you do not have more to say nothing. Sketch out possible titles and topics for articles in order to see how much effort and time you can devote to this blog.

Now, there’s the question of insert banner ads or not. Consider to use sponsors that you think would help your readers, and let off companies are not allowed to advertise. If you want make money through focused ads, either way, no matter, you’ll need to prepare yourself to cultivate that niche blog.

Creating a blog that cover several topics can be a great ways to increase your site traffic, if you have knoledge on different topic. The3dtechnologies.com focuses on make money online, business, and marketing tips, but each of these branches off into their own niches as well, such as advertising, affiliate marketing marketing, and so on.

To summarize, choosing a niche blog depends largely on your purpose and which are your strategies with it. In my view, each niche has the chance to become a remarkable success if you work hard and with constance. Now, you can start blogging!

Economic Downturn And Blogging Earnings

Recently, my readers ask me how has the economic crisis impacted my blogging earnings. It’s actually a question that everyone is asking in the blogosphere but also a question everyone’s jobs at the moment.

As I’ve pondered the question I’ve realized that the answer to the question is not for all bloggers because each bloggers very differently and depending upon factors such as their traffics, their blogs topics and other factors.

Ad Revenue And Private Ad Sales, A Little Down

My biggest income comes from advertising revenue in particular from a combination of sources including AdSense and Infolinks and Private Ad Sales. I run these on the3dtechnologies, nickdeiana.com, and coupons.the3dtechnologies.com.

Many of blogger reporting that both ad networks(like Adsense) and ad space to private sales has decreased their earn due the economic downturn. I’ve noticed that my advertising income has decreased a little this month like other bloggers out there.

Compared others blogger that has had an decline of their income of 40%, I’ve seen my blog decrease only of the 15%. This means that adsense revenues aren’t impacted by economic downturn on all blogs.

Thus, I put it down a couple of reasons.

Traffic up – Despite the amount of money that companies are spending online with their advertising may be decreasing, I continued to increasing traffic to my site  and get a steady stream of people visit my website every day from search engine. This have impacted my Ad earnings very less. Remember, the more people that visit your website, the more opportunities you have to cash in on their visits.

The site niche -  The internet is the new Eldorado, and anyone want to learn how to make money online from this new technology. Also, more people will be online looking for work, and the better way to learn on how to make money online is through sites like this.

Affiliate Revenue, A Little UP

Affiliate is my second source of earn. Affiliate sales are increased a little in the least month of febrary with mixed success.

1. Traffic is up – While my traffic is up, are also increased the potential  customer seeing my affiliate promotion.

There were a few quality affiliate programs that worked well, but I’m still looking for the perfect product that ‘fits’ with my audience.

Conclusion

I think that the internet will continue to grow, thus my tactics is to continue to spend my own time and energy into build my communities and large readerships, so when the advertisers return, my sites is ready.
